Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has been reporting for over 45 years focused on human suffering in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry was a journalist in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father is an American Navy Sailor. Curry's parents bonded in Japan which is where her father had been stationed following World War II. Curry graduated in 1978 with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism in the University of Oregon. When she was a young woman, she was exposed to diverse kinds of cultures. Ashland, Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career as a broadcaster. She was the first woman anchor for the station at was 22. Then, she stepped into the role of anchor and reporter at KGW which is which is an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. Four years later she moved back to Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. In the course of her work with this channel for the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
